Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band kicked off the American leg of their U.S. tour in Hartford, Conn., with a sweaty, sweaty night of fun.

After 28 songs in three hours, Springsteen proved that he is still able to rock the U.S. – in the past, shows in America have seemed a little sedated compared to European shows, as European fans eat him up every time he comes to town.

Fortunately for old-school Springsteen fans, there was a great mix of classic hits and new songs – and this much fun can be expected through the rest of the tour!

The news was reported in the Chicago Sun-Times, but has yet to be officially confirmed by anyone in the Springsteen camp. Nevertheless, the idea is thrilling for fans, since the album has been played from start to finish only once before in May 2008.

Other Springsteen tour news: 2 more dates have been added to play shows at The Spectrum in Philly before the venue is demolished - October 19th and 20th.

Bruce Springsteen is about a third of the way through his Spring/Summer Tour, which includes a two-night stop at the Philadelphia Spectrum, which will mark one of the last performances in the venue, as it’s set for demolition later this year.

It’s particularly important for Springsteen because the Spectrum is the first areana Springsteen and his E Street Band ever played - and he has been there 31 times since. His first performance was a two-night stint in 1976, and 33 years later he is taking the stage one last time.

Bruce told the crowd at during the show: “They don’t make arenas like this anymore. They end up being ideal for rock shows, without the luxury boxes….It’s a real treat to be here again before they knock it down.”

Word has just come out that Springsteen’s long-time drummer, Max Weinberg, will not be joining the band on the road in Europe this summer.

Weinberg has to take time off to honor his other musical commitments, namely his job as the leader of talk show host Conan O’Brien’s house band, the Max Weinberg 7. The host and crew are making their move to take over Jay Leno’s slot on the “Tonight Show,” which is set in Los Angeles.

Weinberg is not happy about moving away from the East Coast, and about missing this tour - it’s the first time since 1974 that he won’t be with them - but the band should be in good hands. Weinberg’s son, Jay, will be taking his dad’s place for the European leg.

“The Wrestler,” a film starring Mickey Rourke and directed by Darren Aronofsky, features a brand spanking new Bruce Springsteen track written exclusively for the movie. Right now, “The Wrestler” is playing in New York and Los Angelos, but is scheduled to open everywhere soon.

“I wrote Bruce a letter, because we’ve known each other over twenty years, and he knows what I used to be, or whatever. Where I went. What I’d been reduced to. I told him how I felt lucky now and didn’t have to end up being this guy, being Randy (character from The Wrestler). A while later, I got a call in the middle of the night: he said he’d written a little song, for nothing. It’s f—ing beautiful, right? I was honored he took the time, because he’s a busy cat. I mean, I’m so ——- proud of this magical movie and to have Bruce’s input… ain’t nobody in Hollywood with all their millions can just ring the man and he’ll do a song, y’know?”— Mickey Rourke
